FAQS

Here is a list of a few questions that we commonly come across during our day. If you have a question for us or want to discuss your project, please don't hesitate to call or text the office at 601-218-7915, or email us at everettelectricms@att.net
  • What is your service area?

A: We only service Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties in central Mississippi.

  • How much do you charge for estimates?

A: We give free estimates, but there is a difference between what we consider an estimate vs a troubleshooting or diagnostic service call. For example, if you call us out to estimate replacing 3 ceiling fans in your home, that is a free estimate. If you call us out to give an estimate of repairs on why your breaker keeps tripping, that is considered diagnostic work, and there will be a charge. Basically, if we have to pull out tools, it no longer becomes a free estimate and starts leaning toward troubleshooting.

HOME INSPECTION REPORTS: Selling or buying a home and have a home inspection report? More often than not, we are able to build an estimate based off what the inspector finds. Please email a copy of the report with your contact information to everettelectricms@att.net

  • Why have LED lights become so popular?

A: Due to their impact on the environment, fluorescent lights are slowly being phased out by home improvement store distributors nationwide. While we can still repair current fluorescent lights if required, we strongly suggest replacing them with LED fixtures – not only are they better for the environment, they use WAY less power than fluorescent lights and don't get as hot (which is really beneficial during a Mississippi summer!). We can also rewire existing fluorescent fixtures to accept LED bulbs! Entergy also offers incentives to small businesses for LED conversion of your office. Call or text us today to schedule your consultation.

  • Help! Exactly half of my power seems to have gone out in my home, outlets and lights affected. Do we need an electrician or to contact the utility company?

A: Depends. For power that seems to go out in exactly half of your home, check your larger appliances to see if they are working. Is your dryer working? How about your electric stove top or air conditioner? If these larger type items are out, you most likely have lost a leg of power coming into your home from your electrical utility provider. Simple enough fix: call them, tell them you need them to come check the power coming into your home, and they can fix. If however, they find something different with your electrical system, give us a call, and we can send someone out.

  • I think I need an electrician, but it's such a small job. Do you all do small jobs?

A: At Everett Electric, no job is too big or too small. Examples of “small” jobs we are more than happy to perform: bulb changes, floodlight repositioning, and battery changes for smoke detectors. Never feel bad for calling us to discuss your project – we love to help!
